One of the problems faced by supporters of socialism, which actually functions as state capitalism, is that they have run out of examples in the world to demonstrate that socialist economic policies reduce misery and increase the purchasing power of the poor. .
In America there are only 3 countries that practice real socialism: Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. Cuba, which years ago had one of the highest standards of living in Latin America, now its standard of living is similar to that of Haiti. One of the proofs of Cuba’s low standard of living relative to its neighbors is emigration. If people leave Haiti, it is because it is poorer than other Latin American countries. With practically the same population as Haiti, until 2021 more Cubans left Cuba, 1,655,000, than Haitians from Haiti, 1,585,000. More than 50% of the people who seek to enter the United States through the northern border of Mexico are Cubans.
Last century, all the countries of South America came to Venezuela because it offered better opportunities to live better. Currently, since the arrival of the socialist Chávez to power and his bodyguard, now President Maduro, millions of Venezuelans emigrate from Venezuela, due to the shortage of food, jobs and housing.
In Europe, Eastern European countries abandoned socialism and in the USSR, even before Putin, they promoted private companies and foreign investment to grow.
China abandoned socialism. The basis of its current progress are thousands of Special Economic Zones, where taxes represent a third of those in Mexico. There is labor flexibility and freedom to bring resources and products in and out of China.
Some socialists put the Scandinavian countries as an example of success: Denmark, Sweden and Norway, which is false. In those countries, although there is a high social security system, most of its production and marketing is in the hands of private companies. In the last century, comparisons between West Germany, with a market system, and East Germany, with a socialist system, and that of South Korea, with competitive capitalism, and North Korea, with state capitalism or real socialism, are ample evidence of the inefficiency of socialism, which only serves to concentrate power and wealth in the hands of the rulers.
