E.Cars, villas, helicopters – everything is paid for by the platform. New ring light for the next social media post? The platform takes care. On top of that there is nice pocket money of a few hundred dollars. The short video app Triller spared no expense or effort to attract the most famous influencers to the platform. Some influencers even got shares in the company to convince them. One even became a chief strategist.
Triller saw his chance last year: TikTok, which is owned by the Chinese ByteDance group, was about to be banned in the USA. Triller wanted to take the place. The goal: to convince the most famous social media stars. The idea: Then the users follow too. And once they are there, the companies will come, too, who pay to be able to display their advertisements to users. The plan didn’t really work. This was mainly due to the fact that Donald Trump was voted out and TikTok was therefore not banned. But enticing influencers with ludicrous sums for their funny short videos can also be done by the greats of the social media world.
