Pope Francis, the letter to a gay seminarian after the controversy over “faggotness”
Pope francesco he ended up at the center of criticism for his anti-climactic remarks homosexualsthe Pontiff spoke of “fagot” and of “too many fags” in the seminars. Just after hearing these words, Lorenzo, a 22 year old gay and aspiring priest, decided to write a letter to Dad to ask him for an explanation and Francesco’s response – reports Il Messaggero – has arrived. The young seminarian comments on it like this: “His words give me hope, I want to be a priest“. The Pope wrote a letter to Lorenzo in his own hand: “Dear, you are one of the many seeds of the Lord’s vineyard. Jesus calls everyone, move forward with your calling“.
“I was excluded from the seminar because I said I was gay“, the boy told Il Messaggero. On May 28th he wrote an email, three pages in which he opened his heart to the Holy Father, spoke about his life, of his strong vocation, of the doors in the face received. On June 1st the Pontiff’s response was unexpected: “He struck me – the Pope wrote to Lorenzo – one of your expressions:”Toxic and elective clericalism”: and it’s true! Do you know that clericalism is a plague? it is an ugly “worldliness”, and as a great theologian says: “Worldliness is the worst that can happen to the Church, worse even than the era of the concubinary Popes“.
