Slightly Mad Studios loses its head and historical founder, Ian Bell, which he decided to leave the leadership role of the company following the new situation in which the team is now, following the bulk acquisition of Codemasters by EA.
“With the future of the studio now insured, it is the right time to leave the place. It has been a great journey and a privilege to share our dreams with you, “said Ian Bell in a message entrusted to Twitter, in which he effectively communicates his departure from his role as CEO of the company.
Although he does not report this clearly, it is quite obvious that the founder of the team is referring to theacquisition by Electronic Arts as the main reason for this choice, now that the company is in a decidedly different and calmer condition than before.
Slightly Mad Studios had in fact been acquired by Codemasters previously, so the acquisition of the latter in turn by Electronic Arts means that the American publisher now in fact also controls Slightly Mad, which determines a clearly different organization of the management. Ian Bell was founder of the team, as he recalls in the message, when Slightly Mad Studios was “a crazy dream by a group of ambitious racing fans in a studio apartment in the 90s”.
At this point we look forward to hearing about the new projects of the team, considering that Codemasters is currently working on its most ambitious game ever under the EA label.
