Sales of the Taycan are going very well: despite a (basic) price tag of at least 86,185 euros, Porsche sold around 20,000 units worldwide in the first half of 2021, almost as many as in the whole of the previous year. And that while the Cross Turismo variant was only added to the range this spring. This means that the electric sports car with a power of 408 to 789 hp rivals the iconic 911.
For model year 2022, the success number is entitled to some updates. For example, the PCM infotainment system is now not only compatible with Apple CarPlay, but also with Android Auto – so you no longer have to be an iPhone user to enjoy all connectivity functions. Remote Park Assist is also making an appearance, allowing you to park your Taycan via the Porsche Connect App on your smartphone without having to sit in the car yourself.

Ideal to make an impression, but you can also give your Taycan a striking color. After all, in addition to the 17 standard exterior colors, the Taycan is now also available in a whole range of personalized shades from Porsche’s Paint to Sample and Paint to Sample Plus program. Including some tasty nineties cult colours, from the time of the 911 ‘964’, such as Rubystone Red or bright Acid Green. Ideal for matching your Taycan even better with your favorite accessory, according to Porsche itself.
However, there is also more fundamental technical news. The manufacturer also states that it has reduced the real-life power consumption of the Taycan in daily driving conditions, although the applicable homologation figures continue to apply. In the Normal and Range driving modes, in the four-wheel drive versions, the front motor is now almost completely decoupled at low load, while a freewheel function is intended to reduce friction when cornering. For the rest, the heat management has also been improved, which benefits the fast charging options.
The updated Taycan will be available from September, but whether and to what extent the update will affect prices is not yet known.
