Sources told Sky News Arabia that a flight is scheduled to launch to evacuate dozens of Americans of Afghan origin from Kabul, as part of a series of continuous flights to evacuate citizens, employees and their families.
This comes at a time when talks between the US sides and Taliban officials have concluded in the Qatari capital, Doha, which US State Department spokesman Ned Price described as frank and professional discussions.
Price said that a joint delegation traveled to Doha on October 9 and 10, to meet with senior Taliban representatives. During the talks, the US delegation focused on security concerns, terrorism and safe passage for US citizens and other foreign nationals and Afghan partners, as well as on human rights, including meaningful engagement For women and girls in all aspects of Afghan society.
The two sides also discussed direct US humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
For his part, the spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, said that the talks with the American delegation were good, during which a detailed discussion of political issues and issues of common concern took place, noting that it was agreed to continue holding such meetings in the future if necessary..
According to the Taliban spokesman, the movement’s delegation demanded that efforts be made to establish diplomatic relations between the two parties as best as possible, and the movement pledged to facilitate the evacuation of foreign nationals from Afghanistan.
