After re-introducing Skull and Bones, revealing a lot of information on the gameplay of its open world of the pirate world and the release date on November 8, 2022, one detail remains unclear: will the game also be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?
Surely in the presentation event of the game, in the Ubisoft press release and in the official website of the game, the two old-gen consoles are never mentioned as release platforms for Skull and Bones, which will instead be officially released on “PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, Stadia, Epic Games and Ubisoft Connect ”.
However, in the exclusive interview released to Multiplayer, game director Ryan Barnard spoke clearly about the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. In fact, when asked “will we see it on old-gen?” he replied:
“It is compatible with past generations, but we are focusing on current generation platforms […] So if you are using a PC […] or a console of the past generation will not have the performance that obviously you would get with hardware with the maximum specifications. “
Practically while admitting understandable technical compromises, Barnard has clearly hinted that the game also runs on old-gen.
However contacted by Multiplayer, Ubisoft Italia has confirmed that the game will only be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and Streaming (Google Stadia and Amazon Luna).
As previously thought, the release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has therefore been canceled.
