The brand Skoda has started production of its new electric, namely the coupe version of Enyaq iV based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The car was officially presented on January 31, after several previews that showed the courageous lines chosen by the manufacturer based in the Czech Republic.
Over 120 units of the coupe will be produced every day at the main plant, together with sister Enyaq iV, Octavia and Octavia iV. Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda’s board member for production and logistics, pointed out in a note published by the manufacturer: “Last year we produced 50,000 units of Enyaq iV. We are now taking it to the next level by launching production of the Coupé version. I would like to congratulate the team on the successful completion of the preparation phase. It is a great honor to produce in Mladá Boleslav“.
As part of its electrification strategy, the automaker is committed to transforming its next cars into electric or hybrid: by 2030, Skoda is expected to launch at least three more fully electric models in a lower range than the Enyaq iV in terms of size and price. The goal is to increase the share of fully electric models sold in Europe between 50 and 70% by 2030, depending on market developments. This is how the company aims to reduce its fleet emissions by more than 50% compared to 2020.
