The Finnish team placed second.
Finland foursome Perttu Hyvärinen, Ristomatti Hakola, Iivo Niskanen and Joni Mäki skied second in the World Cup 4×7.5 kilometer post in Lahti. The Finns were preceded by the overwhelming number one Norway, but Mäki defeated the top Russian leader in the World Cup Alexander Bolshunov in check.
Bolshunov became nervous at the finish so that he drove violently towards the Hill. As a result of the rigging, Mäki fell. Already in the final straight, the Russian would whip Mäki with a stick, when the Finn went right in front of Bolshunov when the final straight started.
In the end, Russia’s message was rejected. The Russian team has protested the rejection.
At the World Championships in Oberstdorf, the men’s ski message is scheduled for March 5th. Then the journey is more familiar 4×10 kilometers.
