Flugstad Østberg will have to miss a ski week for top Norwegian skiers and a high-pitch camp in Italy.
World Cup medalist Ingvild Flugstad Østberg last competed on March 1, 2020 in the Lahti World Cup post. Since then, he has had injuries and other health problems that have not been described in more detail.
Norwegian VG says that the problems continue and that Østberg will not take part in the ski week for top Norwegian skiers starting this week or the upcoming high – altitude camp in Italy.
“Ingvild’s health is not good enough for a ski week or a high place to stay in Italy. He receives constant monitoring from our health team, ”says the leader of the Norwegian ski team Espen Bjervig To VG.
Østberg, 30, did not want to comment on his situation to VG.
Bjervig could not say because Østberg will return to national team practice.
“It’s hard to say, but it will happen as soon as the health situation allows.”
August the Italian high-altitude camp at the end of the year is considered particularly important in Norway, as next winter’s Beijing Olympics will be held high. The Norwegian high team’s second high-pitch camp will be held in October before the start of the season.
Østberg won five medals at the Seefeld World Championships in 2019: three silver and two bronze. In addition, he was winning Olympic gold in the sprint post in 2014 and in the post in 2018.
