Skiing Fear of the coronavirus prompted Swedish Olympic skiers to change camps – infections are spreading in an area where Norwegians are

The Swedes switch from Seiser Alm in the Dolomites to Livigno near the Swiss border.

Beijing Swedish national skiing team changes place to host its last camp, the country’s ski association informed on saturday.

The reason for the solution is the strong spread of the coronavirus in the Dolomites in Italy.

“That’s why we decided to look for new, safer accommodation, and found a very good option in Livigno,” the national team leader Anders Byström says in a press release.

Sweden held camps in Seiser Almi, which is also familiar to Finnish skiers. The Norwegian national team is currently running its own camp in Seiser Alm, a Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet says.

“Design must be very flexible”, Swedish national team skier going to his first Olympics William Poromaa, 21, told Aftonbladet this week.

Also Byström thinks the same. He says in the release he sees flexibility as a sign of good organization.

“In this case, thanks to quick and careful work, we found an even better option than we originally chose for our Olympic camp,” he says.

“We also bring our own chefs so we can prepare meals safely.”
