Hill jumper Antti Aalto stretched to its best of the season at the Beijing Winter Olympics, with the 12th place finish on Normal Hill taking the 17th place finish on Saturday.

“The jumps were technically better than this winter otherwise”, Aalto comments on the Finnish Olympic team On Twitter.

Back in November at the Ruka World Cup, Aalto’s mood was in the country. The season started in 47th place in the Cup, and Aalto decided to stay in the home country to practice on the cup tour instead of resuscitating.

Aalto did not return to the World Cup until the New Year’s Eve week in Oberstdorf. In January, Titisee-Neustadt of Germany would be the only leaderboard of the season (23rd) in the World Cup.

In Zhangjiakou There has been a much more positive mood in what Aalto has to do. On Saturday, he was even a little disappointed in 17th place, as the 131-meter jump in the opening round was not to the liking of the jumper representing Kitee Athletes.

“The effort was pretty accurate, so I didn’t get the best out of it,” Aalto said in Yle’s TV interview.

In the second round, Aalto stretched to 134 meters and rose seven places on the result list.

The jumps of the Finns at the Zhangjiakou ended in a grand hill competition, as it is impossible to place a one-man team in the men’s team competition.

For Norwegians the big hill brought the long-awaited Olympic victory when he was 21 years old Marius Lindvik rose from second place to second in the second round.

In Suurmäki, the previous Norwegian Olympic winner was Toralf Engan From the 1964 Olympics in Innsbruck.

“I’m so full of adrenaline and so happy it’s hard to talk. Herranjestas, this is great, ”Lindvik said in a TV interview with Discovery, according to news agency TT.

In Normal Hill Espen Bredesen won the Lillehammer Home Games in 1994 and Lars Bystøl at the Turin Games in 2006.

Japan’s No. 1 and Normal Hill gold jumped last weekend in Japan Ryoyu Kobayashi took silver by 3.3 points to the winner. Germany’s world cup leader Karl Geiger was third, which was a good improvement for him compared to the 15th place on the normal hill.

Lindvik’s victory raised the number of Norwegian gold medals to eight in the Beijing Games.
