Ski Jumping Antti Aalto, who has been thinking about Hill Week even at Christmas, wants to repeat the jumps that are at the top of his skill level

The creditor of the hillland team returns from the practice period and the Christmas holidays to the World Cup during the traditional German-Austrian hill week.

Hill jumper Antti Aalto head from the Christmas table in the traditional way to the German-Austrian hill week. Everyday life began with a telephone interview on Midsummer’s Day, and on Monday he is already flying the wing of an airplane towards Munich.

The close start of the four races will start on Wednesday in Oberstdorf. The tour ends after Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck in Bischofshofen on Epiphany on January 6th.

“Christmas went quietly in Kuopio. My girlfriend and I were in our own circumstances when we didn’t have to go to our parents this time, ”Aalto said about her Christmas party.

On the eve of Christmas Eve, Aalto was free and enjoyed the Christmas table, although the hill jump is forced to keep the weight under control.

“It suffers to be freer at the Christmas table when things are otherwise okay,” Aalto said.

“Anyway, I like to have fun sometimes. Of course, it’s not everyday, but it’s okay every now and then, because I really don’t like to deny myself things. Sometimes you can enjoy it if the food side is otherwise in good condition. ”

Aalto said that he was not fascinated by any single treat.

“Sweet stuff tastes good when it’s possible. There are many kinds of things going on. ”

Aalto, 26, has been jumping into the World Cup since 2016. The turn of the year is hill week, and you can’t completely break away from the idea at Christmas.

“At rest I think I can break out of the sport pretty well, even though I always think about the future, races and more. Yes, hill week is also being considered during Christmas. That it will be whatever it is, but in between it can also calm down, ”Aalto described his Christmas mood.

“With the experience, the breakout has improved. Its already known that the race will come when its time. And know what’s promised there. ”

Now Aalto has realized that the difficulties of the early part of the season may turn to an advantage in the second half of the period. He withdrew from the World Cup tour after the Ruka Games due to technical difficulties and focused on training in December, when the results in November did not meet expectations.

“The season is still young, and I have thought that this will still be a good thing,” Aalto said.

“I was getting ready to continue at home and got to practice a little differently than usual. Looking at the whole thing, it can be a good thing. I think this can be useful in the spring, even if I didn’t want such a start to the season. ”

About the World Cup has jumped a third, but the main jumps are ahead. Thoughts only move to the main event of the season after the hill week.

“Many important races are still coming,” Aalto said.

The most significant will be jumped at the Beijing Olympics in February.

However, Aalto does not think so far. He starts building through again and jumping one by one. The most important thing would be to get to his own skill level, which he reached momentarily during the summer training season and again during the December training period.

“The jump has gone in a better direction again. I’ve got a feel back, a better position for the pace, and that’s a good performance. The best jumps have been really good, and the goal is to get more of them now, ”Aalto said of his training tone.

He will focus on that at the beginning of the hill week.

“I have to see first what the level is enough for myself when I haven’t competed in the World Cup for a while. If the thing is Nazi, your own skill level is enough. It’s about being able to do the job at the top end of a skill level and repeat it. ”

Hill Week is a return to a harsh environment. Aalto should be able to gain a sense of jumping and competition in both rounds of the race, but the race is a relentless qualifier for each round of the race, and the mind can’t just rest between the races.

“It’s a close-knit, of course. On the other hand, it has the good side of having many screen locations, ”Aalto reminded.

“If you don’t succeed somewhere, you can try again the next time.”

The instrument tests have already been done, as Aalto has introduced the monos familiar from last season, when he did not get the best feel for the brand he changed in the summer.

An additional concern is the deteriorating corona situation in the world.

“Let’s see how it goes,” Aalto thought.

“Germany and Austria are really accurate at all things. There are repeated tests, but of course it does not guarantee that there will be no infections. There is little question about how everything is going, but we hope for the best. ”

In any case, Aalto trusts the sports people’s activities.

“I would see that the team treats their corona quite responsibly. Everything has worked well among the jumpers, at least so far, ”Aalto praised.

Finland will be the second representative in the hill week Niko Kytösaho, who is ranked 37th in the World Cup.
