Today, Wednesday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed his country’s keenness on the safety, security and stability of Lebanon and its national interest.
This came during Sisi’s reception today, General Joseph Aoun, commander of the Lebanese army, in the presence of Lieutenant-General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, according to Egyptian presidential spokesman Bassam Radi on his Facebook page.
The spokesman said in a press statement that the Egyptian President welcomed General Aoun on his visit to Egypt, within the framework of talks with the Minister of Defense and Military Production, stressing pride in the depth of the strong relations between Egypt and Lebanon at the official and popular levels.
According to the spokesman, Sisi valued the primary role played by the Lebanese National Army to maintain stability and balance in Lebanon, within the framework of what national armies represent as a backbone guarantor of cohesion and stability of countries.
For his part, General Joseph Aoun conveyed to the Egyptian President the greetings of Lebanese President Michel Aoun, stressing Lebanon’s keenness to strengthen the strong historical relations linking the two countries, which are based on foundations of solidarity and brotherhood.
Aoun expressed his country’s appreciation for the Egyptian effort to support Lebanon in all fields, as an extension of Egypt’s pivotal role in maintaining stability in the entire Arab region.
The spokesman explained that the meeting dealt with ways to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation frameworks between the two countries, and to benefit from the Egyptian experience in many fields.
