I pHearing problems are generally underestimated: only 30% of Italians regularly carry out specific checks and, on average, about 7 years pass between becoming aware of the disorder and adopting an acoustic solution. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Hearing loss or hearing loss affects approximately 500 million people worldwideof which over 7 million in Italy alone, with an incidence of 12% and, among the over 65s, the problem affects one in three people. These are some of the themes of the 108th Congress of the Sio (Italian Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery), chaired by Gaetano Paludetti, which opens today in Rome, again in attendance, until May 28, at the La Nuvola Convention Center.
A point of reference for Italian otolaryngologists, the congress sets objectives of a scientific nature and beyond: to share all the classic thematic areas with a particular focus on innovations, controversies and unresolved issues of the discipline; consolidate collaborative relationships between colleagues, and emphasize the value of both clinical and basic ENT research. During the congress topics of audiology, vestibology, otoneurology, otology, phoniatrics and otoneurosurgery will be treated.
Amplifon Italia will support the Sio Congress as a sponsor, confirming its commitment to promoting the main events that affect the medical community and giving professionals the opportunity to keep up-to-date and take part in significant initiatives in the audiology and otology fields.
