Italy’s Yannick Sener has returned to the top 10 of the ATP rankings after winning the Metz International Tournament, while Spain’s Paula Padusa rose to third in the women’s rankings.
There have not been many changes in the classification of professional players, as the stars of the game devote themselves to participate in the Laver Cup in London, which the world team won for the first time at the expense of its European counterpart, and which witnessed the last match of the retired Swiss legend Roger Federer.
The rise of Sener, who won the third title in his professional career, from the thirtieth place to the tenth at the expense of Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, who fell to the eleventh.
Sener crowned the French Championship title by defeating Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik 7-6, 6-2 in the final, after he stripped Hurkacz of the title by defeating him 7-6, 6-4 in the semi-finals.
The most prominent rise among the top 100 was for American Brandon Nakashima, who gained 21 places, and became 48th, thanks to his first title in San Diego at the expense of his compatriot Marcos Jeron 6-4, 6-4.
Spaniard Carlos Alcaras maintained the lead for the third week in a row.
Among the women, the top ten witnessed two changes, with the rise of Spaniard Paula Padusa and Belarusian Arina Sabalenka to third and sixth places, respectively, at the expense of Estonian Anett Kontaveit and Greek Maria Sakkari.
Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova jumped three places, and became 21st, in the best ranking in her professional career, after winning the Seoul International Tournament, at the expense of Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko 7-6, 6-0.
Her compatriot Lyudmila Samsonova, who won the Tokyo Games, rose seven places and became 23rd.
Poland’s Iga Šviontik is in the lead with 10,180 points, ahead of its direct pursuit, Tunisian Anas Jaber “5090”.
