Andrea Bernetti, vice president of the Italian Society of Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine (Simfer), explains this to Adnkronos Salute.

“The treatments to be proposed in situations of this type are many and must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis – continues the physiatrist – In general they range, just to name a few, from therapeutic exercise in water to instrumental physical therapy (high intensity laser therapy, shock waves, analgesic electrotherapy), to infiltrative therapy. In particular, the latter involves the use of ultrasound for greater precision in conducting the treatment – specifies the expert – various based devices can be used of hyaluronic acid or also Platlet Rich Plasma or Prp, also called ‘platelet jelly’ – remember – it is produced by centrifugation of autologous blood and is rich in growth factors that stimulate tissue regeneration”.

“The instrumental analysis of the athletic gesture with technological devices can then be very important – continues Bernetti – which, if appropriate, allow us to evaluate the biomechanics and the possible need to make changes in training, in the style of play and in the equipment used. Naturally we are speaking in general: each individual athlete represents a unique case to be taken care of globally and in a personalized way”, he concludes.
