The final results of the votes last Sunday are visible to all Sinaloans after the counting of the elections for president of the republic, senators, federal and local deputies and mayors has been completed. Some came out ahead with double the votes of their closest competitors, while in other cases the difference was comfortable, but not overwhelming, and some others were minimal. For example, in Ahome the difference between the Morenoist Gerardo Vargas was 4,179 votes over that of the opposition coalition headed by Domingo “Mingo” Vázquez; Meanwhile, in Choix, Yoneina Gámez, candidate of the opposition coalition, won with 577 votes over the Morenista Amalia Gastélum. Only one case: for senators, the Morenoist candidates Imelda Castro and Enrique Inzunza had 645,297 votes against 330,096 votes from those of the coalition Paloma Sánchez and Eduardo Ortiz. The candidates and leaders of the losing political parties for the municipal presidencies have the right to file the resources they consider and to demonstrate, but within legal channels. It depends on the decision they make, it will be in their favor or against. What is certain is that spirits must calm down. The passion was already in the campaign. Sinaloa society has already expressed itself at the polls in general: continuity. And the popular will must be respected.
