Simon Fieschi One of the employees of the French satirical magazine ‘Charlie Hebdo’ who survived the terrorist attack committed in 2015 by Al Qaeda sympathizers, died this past Thursday at the age of 40.After coping with the aftermath of the shooting for nine years against the media’s editorial staff. Fieschi was one of the first employees to be shot and his movement was affected for several years by a gunshot.
The Police have opened an investigation into the causes of his death. According to the French newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, his body was found in a hotel room in Paris. «The causes of death are still unknown. An autopsy was ordered to find out the cause of death,” said his lawyer Nathalie Senyk this Saturday.
“We are devastated by the death of our friend”commented the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo on their X account, paying tribute in a message to a man who was “funny, lively and tireless defender of freedom.”
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, has posted a message on his X profile to convey his condolences. «On January 7, 2015, Simon Fieschi survived the attack by terrorists that killed his comrades at Charlie Hebdo. Seriously wounded, he has continued to fight for freedom ever since and expressed with courage and humanity the horror of Islamist terrorism. His passing today is a great sadness for all of us. Tearing that revives the intact pain almost a decade later. “I extend to his family, to his loved ones, to Charlie, the condolences of the Nation,” he wrote.

Simon Fieschi was hospitalized after the shot and was in a coma for a week. In total, he spent about eight months in the hospital; over the years he has had to go there daily to recover.
The shooting ended with death of a dozen people and led to a wave of international demonstrations in favor of the medium, threatened with violence for years by Islamic extremism for having published numerous cartoons considered offensive against the Muslim world.
