The record producer and godfather of One Direction after passing through the program X Factor, Simon Cowellexpressed this Friday that feels “empty” after hearing the news of death of the former component of the boy band Liam Payne at 31 years after fall from the third floor in a hotel in Buenos Aires.
“Liam, I am devastated. With a broken heart. And I feel empty. I want you to know how much love and respect I have for you and every tear I have shed is a memory for you,” the famous television judge wrote in instagram. Cowell got rid of compliments towards Paynewhom he defined as someone “kind, funny, sweet, attentive, talented, humble and focused”, who loved music and went out of his way for his fans.
“I had to tell you when you were 14 that it wasn’t your time. And we both made a promise that we would see each other again. “Many people would have given up, but not you,” wrote the former judge of X Factorreferring to the first time Payne appeared on the show in 2008.
Two years later, he returned to the music program and coincided with Harry StylesNiall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson, the future One Direction, who under the patronage of Cowell they would get their first record dealwhich catapulted them to stardom.
In his text, Cowell revealed that had a meeting with Payne last year in which they went over “all the fun times” they had together, and that she felt he was still the “sweet and kind” boy she had known in the past. He also mentioned that he had had the opportunity to meet Bear, Payne’s 7-year-old son who has “the smile and the twinkle in his eyes” that the late singer had.
Cowell’s message comes two days after Payne’s death and a few hours after all the co-stars One Direction wrote a statement set in which They confessed their “complete devastation” after the death of his “brother” Liam. “I always thought of you five in the band as brothers, and after reading your messages today I think you were,” Cowell concluded.
