Silent Hill 2 was compared on PC and PS5 by ElAnalistaDeBits, in a video in which the two versions are shown side by side, highlighting all the technical and performance differences between the platforms.
Depending on the hardware configuration, the remake developed by Bloober Team can run on PC Effective 2160p versus the dynamic resolutions used on PlayStation 5which only go up to the variable 1440p of the quality mode. The result is a higher degree of sharpness.
Another difference is in the reflections, which on the Windows platform they can use ray tracing for maximum realismwhile on PS5 they are quite muddy when you opt for the 60 fps performance mode.
Silent Hill 2’s quality mode delivers an ambient occlusion close to that achievable with ray tracing on PCwhich represents a great result, while on global illumination the advanced effects once again make the difference.
And the performance?
As for performance, as we know Digital Foundry rejected Silent Hill 2’s performance mode because it cannot maintain 60 fps stablyoften dropping to lower values, while the 30 fps quality mode does not suffer from similar problems.
Well, how is the situation on PC? Not very good, judging by the presets used for comparison, which imply the need to use DLSS with even aggressive settings in order to obtain the minimum margin to have 60 stable frames with ray tracing active, in particular at 2160p with Epic preset on an RTX 4080 Super.
