Ukrenergo predicts a significant electricity shortage next week
Ukrenergo predicts a significant electricity shortage in Ukraine next week. This was stated by the head of the company Vladimir Kudritsky on the air of the Public TV channel, his words are quoted by RIA News.
“The deficit, which did not exist for several days this week, will return and return in a serious manner,” said the head of the national energy company.
He added that in Ukraine there is not enough electricity production to cover consumption; even with imports from Europe, energy workers are not able to meet the daily demand.
Kudritsky said that the country will apply hourly shutdown schedules. The shortage, according to him, is associated with damage to energy facilities, rising air temperatures and the closure of two nuclear power units for repairs.
On the morning of June 2, it was reported that power and electricity were urgently turned off throughout Ukraine, bypassing the established schedules.
Earlier in May, Ukrenergo introduced emergency power outages throughout Ukraine. The reason for the restrictions was the insufficient capacity of Ukrainian power plants.
