At least one dead and several injured in a shooting on the campus of a Louisiana university during a homecoming event, the start of the football season. According to a spokesman for Grambling State University, the shooting took place in the central area of the campus, the so-called ‘quad’. Several people were injured, including at least one student. The victim does not turn out to be a student on campus.
“At the time of the incident, the homecoming party was underway in the McCall Dining Center, all the people took cover and then left when the all-clear was given by the University police,” he told CNN. Grambling State University spokesperson Tisha Arnold, stating that a suspect in the shooting has not yet been identified.
Meanwhile, the university has suspended the other events scheduled today for homecoiming and canceled tomorrow’s lessons, while police investigations continue to determine the dynamics of the facts.
