The head of the Government of Mexico City, claudia sheinbaumreported that at 11:00 am the 16 roads that were blocked by carriers in the capital of the country were released, who ask for an increase in the rate and the negotiation tables have been opened.
“This government is open to dialogue and with this group we maintain a work table,” stressed the president of the capital, who warned that there must be a substantial improvement in the transport concession in the country’s capital.
At a press conference, Sheinbaum pointed out that what his government is asking for is that it has to improve public transportation in Mexico City, for which very important support has been given, and even so, on the other side, there has been no compliment.
“In this case, what we are proposing at the work table is that, precisely, beyond the rate, which is also unacceptable for it to be 5 pesos, because we support the families’ economy, what there has to be is a substantive improvement of public transportation in Mexico City,” he stated.
Sheinbaum pointed out that a work table has been opened, but let the citizens know, he pointed out, that we will always defend the popular economy and at the same time an integral improvement of public transport concession of passengers.
the secretary of MobilityAndrés Lajous, commented for his part that from 6 in the morning this Thursday a command post of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Semovi was set up to follow up on the blockade of carriers.
He pointed out that they began to see the mobilizations at 7 in the morning of different groups, which occupied road lanes, with a record of 16 affected points, but at 11:00 hours the circulation was completely freed.
Secretary Lajous mentioned that to date 1,303 million pesos have been given, between 2020 and 2022, in fuel bonds for concessioned transport.
Fewer crashes than expected
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Government, Marti Batreshighlighted that there were fewer blockades than expected and their duration was shorter than estimated, since it was thought that they would continue until 3 in the afternoon.
He pointed out that there was only one brush in the Indios Verdes blockade, but outside of that case there were no complications, thanks to the support of the Secretariat of Citizen Security.
He estimated that between 1,000 and 1,100 people participated in the demonstrations, but it was thought that there would be a greater mobilization and more blockade points, and fortunately they did not last that long.
Batres highlighted that less than 20 percent of public transport concessions were mobilized because not everyone agreed with the protests.
