Once again, the head of government claudia sheinbaum attacked the National Electoral Institute (INE) due to the issue of the electoral ban for the Revocation of Mandate, this time affirming that “some INE advisers have the objective of boycotting the process.” And again he replied Cyrus Murayama.
Likewise, through her Twitter account, the woman at the head of the CDMX administration assured that the last resolution of the electoral body violates “the free expression of citizens, which is the essence of democracy.”
And it is that this afternoon the Commission of Complaints and Denunciations of the INE ordered to remove billboards, tarpaulins, fences and advertising attached to poles of 19 states of the country, including the Mexico Cityin which the image of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to conclude its term in 2024.
However, despite the fact that most of the propaganda advertisements analyzed by the electoral commission coincide with the graphic identity, type, cost, magnitude and location of the one disseminated by the organization Let democracy continue AC on its website, so far there is no certainty about the authorship and resources involved in its authorship and dissemination.
Given this, the agency stressed that due to its characteristics said propaganda could not be considered genuinely citizen, to which “it is possible that it is a possible simulation in the form of a strategy at the national level outside the right of citizens to participate in this exercise, that is, apparently it is an orchestrated campaign”.
While Sheinbaum had already charged the INE on a couple of occasions before after it ordered him to download tweets expressing his support for AMLO or spoke about citizen participation in the consultation on April 10, after which even his administration signed an agreement with the electoral institute so that it promotes the Revocation of Mandate in public furniture and inside the facilities of the Metro CDMXafter he assured that it was not giving him the necessary coverage.
Counselor’s response
It was in those criticisms of the INE that the electoral advisor Ciro Murayama turned to Sheinbaum assuring him that the agency only asked him to delete a tweet and respect the Constitutionand not to renounce her convictions as she wanted to ensure through Twitter by stating that “they can order a tweet to be deleted, but they cannot make me renounce my convictions”.
While on this occasion, after Sheinbaum’s new accusations on Twitter, Murayama responded on the social network that “we already know who is bothered by the removal of that anonymous political propaganda and with opaque funds.”
“Nobody knows who ordered to put up the billboards. (Who gave the order?). No one claims to have paid for them. (Where did all that money come from?). But we already know who is bothered by the withdrawal of this anonymous political propaganda and with opaque funds: the Head of Government”, tweeted the electoral advisor after the INE resolution.

And while on other occasions the institute has ordered the Government of Mexico City and its dependencies remove advertising and fences promoting the federal Executive, on this occasion it also ordered the civil association that put the templates on its page so that the “citizens” could download and place them, put on its page the warning that the propaganda was withdrawal for violating the law, in addition to submitting to the agency the contracts that guarantee the legal placement of advertising, as well as the origin of the resources.
