The virtual president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, offered this Friday to relatives of the miners who died in Pasta de Conchos that if, for some reason, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador cannot finish the task, she will continue with the work of rescue.
In Sabinas, Coahuila, Sheinbaum was grateful for the opportunity to meet the relatives of the miners who died in the Pasta de Conchos mine 18 years ago and to share these moments, in addition to listening to their demands.
I feel your pain, which is also a pain that has marked our country, said the former head of Government of Mexico City to the relatives of the miners, before President López Obrador.
Sheinbaum mentioned that it is up to the prosecutor’s offices to clarify the causes and responsibilities of the Pasta de Conchos tragedy, but he pointed out that there is a reality: that President López Obrador promised to do everything possible to recover the bodies of the miners.
The winner of the presidential elections on June 2 said that today the efforts of the López Obrador government are beginning to yield results from this great task.
He noted that the rescue tasks to which the president committed also obey “that great word and its deep meaning: justice.”
“Because justice has to begin by recognizing and addressing fair and legitimate demands, like the one you have maintained all these years for the recovery of your loved ones,” said Sheinbaum.
