This came in a speech by Her Highness, delivered by His Excellency Hessa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, at the opening of the 23rd Arab Regional Conference for Girl Guides, organized by the Emirates Girl Guides Association in cooperation with the Arab Region for Girl Guides, under the slogan “Together we thrive”, during the period from 5 to 10 September, in the hotel « Legacy of Abu Dhabi. The concept of volunteering by encouraging girls to join it, and this interest culminated in its joining as a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1990, and accordingly the association participated in many national, regional and international conferences, meetings and activities.
Her Highness pointed out that “the association, since its establishment, has made great efforts, and adopted strategies and organizational plans in order to raise the level of the guiding movement in the country, all with the encouragement and support of the founder of the State of the Union, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, who took it upon himself to encourage The daughter of the Emirates, and during his reign she was empowered like no one else, and “God bless his soul” was keen to sponsor the events held by the Emirates Girl Guides Association in great appreciation of the guiding movement in the country, and he had opened the work of the eleventh Arab Conference for Girl Guides hosted by the state in December 5, 1988, at the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi.
