The Department of Works in Sharjah has completed the project of 5 chapels in the central region in Ukhaidir, Hadera, Nizwa, Tel Al-Zaafaran and Taybeh, bringing the number of chapels in the central region to 14 to hold Eid prayers, as part of the development plan for the department that meets the needs of municipal councils in the regions.
The Director of the Branches Department, Eng. Muhammad bin Yarouf, said that the department has completed all the work related to the project, as all the new chapels will be ready for the Eid al-Adha prayer based on the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who ordered the completion of all projects related to the Eid chapels in the emirate. To be close to residential areas to relieve worshipers who were forced to go to places far from their areas to perform the Eid prayer.
He explained that the department has accelerated the pace of work during the last period to complete these projects before the set date for Eid al-Fitr, sufficient time to give the Islamic Affairs Department the opportunity to receive these chapels and include them within the places where the Eid will be prayed.
The Director of Al Dhaid Branch in the Department of Public Works, Engineer Khalifa Al Darmaki, stated that the department has developed several chapels in the central region, including the Ukhaidir Chapel and Khedira Chapel, where they witnessed development work in addition to the development of the Taybeh chapel. The department also developed the Nizwa Chapel last year to reach the total number of chapels in Central region 14 chapels.
Sharjah has more than 31 prayer rooms in all cities and regions of the emirate, and the Department of Islamic Affairs is keen to clean and maintain the chapels, equip their loudspeakers and brush their floors, in cooperation with the Department of Works in the emirate, where this is done well before the holidays.
