Sharjah Museums Authority is participating in the largest global event specialized in space, which is “World Space Week,” scheduled to be held from October 9 to 12, under the slogan “Space and Climate Change.” With the aim of educating the public about the latest developments in the field of space and astronomy, and their relationship to climate improvement, while highlighting the important achievements of the UAE in this field.
The Authority is launching a group of community and educational activities at the Sharjah Science Museum, including lectures, workshops, astronomical observations, and performances in the planetarium, while Noura Al Matroushi, the first Emirati astronaut, participates in giving an inspiring speech to students during a lecture organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center.
The Sharjah Museums Authority, in cooperation with a number of institutions, implements unique events and activities, including lectures presented by the International Astronomy Center, while the Emirates Astronomy Society presents an exclusive exhibition of astronomical images, and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center presents an educational lecture, while the Sharjah Academy for Space and Astronomy Science and Technology contributes in cooperation with The American University of Sharjah presents lectures in which a group of experts and specialists participate, in addition to new shows in the planetarium, and innovative workshops such as the astronomical photography workshop aimed at providing practical educational experiences for visitors of all ages. The event also provides a platform for participants to learn about the links between space exploration and change. Climate, while celebrating the UAE’s ongoing achievements and efforts in space science.
In line with the global event, the “Space and Climate Change” event will also be held at the Sharjah Science Museum on October 9 and 10, and on October 11 and 12.
The Sharjah Museums Authority invites the public to interact with the event in which a group of experts in the field of astronomy and space science participate, and to increase their knowledge.
It is worth noting that World Space Week is an international celebration of science and technology and their contribution to improving life on planet Earth. It aims to provide a unique impact on awareness and education in the field of space, arouse the interest of emerging generations and young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and enhance international cooperation in this vital field.
