The Director General of Sharjah Municipality Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji confirmed that the municipality is working to plant the second phase of the Maliha road from Budaiya Bridge over a length of 7.8 km, with the total area to be planted approximately 865,800 square meters, and the cultivation work will include planting green areas, trees and flowering shrubs on both sides of the road. With a width of 75 meters on the side of Raqiba and a width of 30 meters on the side of the fold, as well as the cultivation of the central island with a width of 6 meters, with bougainvillea bushes. The project will be completed in four phases.
The Director General of Sharjah Municipality stated that all the procedures to start the project were carried out and the necessary permits were obtained in coordination with the relevant authorities, departments and authorities, and then work began in the area of Al Raqiba and the central island, where the leveling work was completed and the supply of agricultural sand for the first and second phases with the installation of underground tanks and pumps. To collect and pump treated irrigation water, with a length of 5 km.
Al Tunaiji added that this step comes in implementation of the visions and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to pay attention to agriculture, expand the spread of green areas, and enhance the emirate’s aesthetic appearance. Sharjah City Municipality continues to implement agricultural projects in various areas of Sharjah.
He continued: “These projects reflect the distinguished civilized appearance of the Emirate of Sharjah and enhance its global position in achieving sustainability and quality of life. Throughout the year, the municipality devotes efforts and provides labor cadres, equipment and heavy and light machinery to implement the visions and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in extending the green patch and decorating streets, roads and squares, And adding aesthetic touches to government buildings, mosques and other facilities, which have become unique in the beauty of design, construction and decoration.”
He pointed out that the irrigation networks for the first phase have been completed, and the work of cultivating green areas has begun, and the implementation of the irrigation networks for the second phase, with a length of 2 km.
The works also included completing the settlements by removing 14,907 loads of al-Dafan soil, supplying 1,379 loads of agricultural soil, and 300 loads of agricultural fertilizer.
