The Kalba Department of the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has intensified its efforts this year to complete a number of lighting projects in Kalba city, with the aim of achieving security, safety and civilized appearance for all areas of the city. One thousand dirhams, using energy-saving LED lights, which contributed to a 30% reduction in carbon emissions. 885 poles of different lengths were installed, 42.6 km of cables were extended, 29 light boxes were installed, and 1,039 energy-saving torches were installed.
The Director of the Kalba Department, Engineer Moza Al Zaabi, explained that the authority is working to implement lighting projects in all areas of Kalba city as one of the vital projects that contribute to providing security and safety, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. His Highness was keen to provide services to all areas in the Emirate of Sharjah, work on the comfort and well-being of citizens and residents, and facilitate procedures. She added that the lighting projects that have been implemented in the city of Kalba since the beginning of this year included 10 sites: Al-Saf 1, Al-Saf 2, Square 19, Square 16, Al Qalaa neighborhood, University neighborhood, boat parking lots and the green area of Khor Kalba, Kalba Center for Birds of Prey parking lots, and the stage has also been operated. The first is from Al Wahda Street, in front of the University of Sharjah in Kalba, and the Industrial Street project has been completed.
She pointed out that the Kalba administration is keen to implement lighting projects according to the best specifications, economically feasible, and preserve the environment to provide comfort, safety and the best services for citizens and residents, and take into account the aesthetic form in the selection of poles, searchlights and lamps used, and their compatibility with the authority’s policy in saving energy and preserving the environment.
