Shanghai took more steps on Friday to lift the closure restrictions aimed at combating Covid-19, while the Chinese capital, Beijing, continues to monitor infections, as strict measures affect the treatment of other diseases.
The two cities were the epicenters of the recent outbreak of the Corona virus, and the control restrictions severely damaged the second largest economy in the world at a time when most countries of the world are seeking to return to normalcy.
With all closure restrictions imminently lifted in Shanghai, China’s most populous city, from Wednesday, the authorities allowed more residents to leave their homes and reopen more businesses over the past week.
Beijing this week intensified quarantine measures, reduced attendance at workplaces and punished violators.
The latest average daily infection in Shanghai has fallen below 300, and the city has not recorded any injuries outside the quarantine areas.
Beijing recorded 29 daily infections, down from 45 yesterday.
