Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, during her visit to the University of Northampton in Britain, was briefed on modern methods and methods of teaching and learning that are based on the development of students’ experimental skills and support their creative energies and methods of self-learning.
I also got acquainted with the active blended learning technology adopted by the university, which is one of the most important modern methods of learning, which combines traditional education that takes place in the separation between teacher and students, and education via the Internet or using modern technological tools.
During the visit, Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan met with Dr. Peter Jones, Associate Dean of the College of Arts, Science and Technology, Chris Boyce, Director of Library and Learning Resources, Deborah Mattock, Executive Director of Human Resources and International Relations, and Matthew Haines, Head of the Department for Foreign Students Scholarships.
She toured the university’s new campus, visited the library, and was briefed on the library’s self-service technology, which enabled students to visit and borrow at any time without the need for an employee, as it relies on artificial intelligence technology.
In the dialogue with the director of the library about the role of the library, Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan said that she always calls for all libraries everywhere in the world to be available to everyone, not just to university students. Thought and science are a human heritage for all human beings, and every person has the right to benefit from it, stressing the importance of the library in shaping the personality of the individual in society, especially with the recent technological development changes that made e-books a major role in reading and changed human behavior towards the relationship between the book and the reader.
Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, during her visit to Northampton University, discussed ways and means of cooperation between the university and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan’s educational and cultural institutions, and it was agreed to cooperate and transfer the university’s experience in preparing training bags for students qualified to work as teachers after graduation, especially With active blended learning technology, exchange of experiences and cooperation in the field of libraries.
