The director of the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo region, which killed 52 people, ignored safety requirements at work. Denis Timokhin, a former miner of the fourth-grade working face, told about this to the Lenta.ru correspondent.
“There were problems in everything. The director only needed coal mining. Nothing more. And what is the percentage there [концентрации] methane [в забое]or whatever, he didn’t care, ”he said.
Timokhin added that neither the gas level nor anything else was monitored at the mine. In addition, there were no fire extinguishers or additional self-rescue devices in the drifts.
Earlier it was reported that, according to preliminary information, the death toll at Listvyazhnaya increased to 52, including six mine rescuers. It also became known about the detention after a fire at the mine of the director, first deputy director and head of the section. According to the IC, those “have violated the industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities.”
The incident became known on the morning of Thursday, November 25. At that moment, there were 285 workers underground, of which 43 people were injured. They were hospitalized, four of them are in serious condition, 39 – mild and moderate.
Mourning was declared in the region from 26 to 28 November.
