The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul arrested, last Thursday (7), a gang that applied the “nude coup”. Criminals extorted victims by posing as fake police and fake underage victims. The information was published by “Fantástico”, from TV Globo, this Sunday (10).
The gang invents profiles on social networking sites and social networks and exchanges intimate images with the victims. Then they get in touch claiming to be parents of minors or even police officers who are investigating an alleged act of pedophilia.

Then they ask for a sum of money to either withdraw from the ongoing investigation or file a complaint by sending intimate photos. The coup even gained a name: “sextortion”.
The pandemic caused by the coronavirus and social isolation increased the search for relationships in apps and websites, which leaves room for criminal activity.
It is important to be careful with the exchange of intimate images and to get to know a little better the person with whom you create intimacy over the internet. Police heard by Globo deny the practice of contacting those investigated for any crime.
