As a result of damage to the combined heat and power plant (CHP) in the Desnyansky district on the outskirts of Kyiv, some areas of the city are without water and electricity, said on October 18 the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko.
“There were three hits on a large energy facility, a lot of destruction. Now in Troyeshchyna (Desnyansky district – Ed.) And in some areas of the city there is no electricity and water supply, ”Tymoshenko said on the air of the Ukrainian telethon.
According to eyewitnesses, there is currently no mobile communication and electricity in the Desnyansky district.
According to the TV channel of the City Council “Kyiv”, after the strike on the thermal power plant in some areas of the Ukrainian capital, queues for water lined up, people stand for 15-20 minutes.
Meanwhile, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported damage to two critical infrastructure facilities.
“Currently, the provision of electricity and water supply services is partially limited in many houses on the left bank of the capital. In some houses, a decrease in pressure in the water supply network, a change in the color and transparency of the water is possible, ”he wrote in his Telegram channel.
On October 18, shelling of critical infrastructure was reported in different regions of Ukraine, and an air raid alert was announced throughout the country. Explosions thundered in Kyiv, Kharkov, Krivoy Rog and other cities. The office of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported two hits on an energy supply facility in Zhytomyr. Massive strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities have been inflicted since October 10. Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the Security Council said that the missile strikes were a response to the terrorist actions of the Kyiv regime. In particular, he mentioned the emergency on the Crimean bridge. According to him, these events put Ukraine on a par with “odious” terrorist groups.
The special military operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
