The photographic exhibition can be visited in the Municipality until January 16
Sestri Levante – The city of Sestri Levante is shown to the public in all its corners, more or less known, and a thousand shades of color, thanks to the attentive gazes of two artists, Roberto Montanari and Marcello Rezzano, who inaugurated, in the afternoon in the Sala Riccio del Comune, the “Photo exhibition – graphics ”characterized by unpublished compositions by two authors.
“I have been passionate about photography for many years and studied the use of photos printed with a nineteenth-century technique, to give depth to the images – says the photographer Montanari – Then, I wanted to present, by contrast, a modern job, instead made using the modern digital technique, and in particular, I wanted to pay homage to the library of Riva Trigoso, to which, among other things, I collaborated as a designer, when I worked for the municipal administration. I was immediately fascinated by this large window overlooking the sea, and then I decided to photograph several people, individually, with a book dear to them, having me write a fragment of the chosen text, and a review of them on the subject. So there are many ways to also read these photographs dedicated to the “library of the sky and the sea”. Overall, the exhibition is intended as a tribute to my city: “Sestri Levante between sky and sea”“.
Rezzano, through his graphic and pictorial works, wanted, on the one hand, to tell about his city, “the shape of this locality, and then I dedicated another section to current events, because the pandemic – he maintains – now conditions our habits. We all wear masks, and who knows how long this emergency will end ». Rezzano was a teacher of artistic subjects, he worked as a designer, technical consultant and interior decorator. “My basic truth has always been that, in the not too distant future, even the humble and simple, could enjoy the joys of art as a whole,” he declares.
Montanari became passionate about photography in the 1980s «fascinated by the manual skills and expressive possibilities of ancient printing techniques». The mayor Valentina Ghio and the councilor for cultural policies Maria Elisa Bixio were present at the inauguration ceremony of the works, followed by that of the Confuoco. “This exhibition allows you to make a unique journey, where our city is the protagonist: for this I thank both of them, not only for the desire to offer us all such an important moment of art, but also for the tangible love for Sestri Levante and the whole territory “, he said Ghio. Bixio recalled the city’s candidacy as the capital of Italian culture for 2023: “It is a healthy pleasure this year that is about to end, with an exhibition that will take us, through the works of Rezzano and Montanari, to places that are familiar to us, but that become new to our eyes “.
The “Photographic exhibition – Unpublished compositions by Marcello Rezzano accompanied by photographic testimonies by Roberto Montanari” will be open to visitors until next Sunday 16th January, with opening on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and from 10.30 to 12 and again from 16.30 to 18. The exhibition, set up at the entrance of Palazzo Pallavicini and in the first room on the left, and which already has intrigued by several visitors, it will be closed only during the days of Christmas and New Year.
