First Carlos Sainz (Junior), Jenson Button, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in Extreme E, now Sergio Perez’s official status in E1 Series. The cases in which F1 pilots (or former pilots) marry the projects of Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of the electric SUV championship and co-founder – together with Rodi Basso – of E1, the new series of nautical prototypes, begin to become many which will lead, starting from 2023, the RaceBirds – special electric boats – to race on the most evocative waters in the world, including Venice and Montecarlo. The approach to Season 1 of E1 Series therefore passes through the formalization of Team Mexico, the second team to be made known after the Venice Racing Team of Venice. The livery of the new Checo team will have the colors of his native country, with the drivers of Team Mexico who will race under the Mexican flag.

“I am really excited to become one of the new E1 team owners and to have a team that will represent Mexico in the next E1 – Uim World Championship,” said Sergio Perez. “Given my relationship with Agag, I have always followed closely what he was doing in the different championships and I think his careful promotion of new forms of sustainable mobility through sport is truly admirable. Then to see a team carry the Mexican flag on a stage. international is an indescribable emotion. I can’t wait to see the RaceBird in action for the first time; I have only heard positive comments on both the boat and the incredible sporting event that E1 is preparing for fans in every city we will touch ” . Checo then continued: “I’m sure this will be a great challenge in my career, as well as an experience that will give me the opportunity to learn a lot. I can’t wait to start, and also to lend a hand to increase the number. of fans in Mexico and around the world “.
Agag: “Perez a successful team owner”
–
Alejandro Agag, pioneer of electric mobility and one of the co-founders of E1 Series, in the past was team principal and owner of the Barwa Addax Team which competed in GP2, a team for which Perez himself raced, conquering the second step of the podium in the 2010 season. “Checo and I have remained close friends since we worked together in GP2. I like to think of our bond as a perfect circle, starting with me choosing Sergio as a driver and ending with him now entering E1 with his team, “said Alejandro Agag.” Not only is he an incredibly fast and talented driver, but he is also intelligent and has all the characteristics necessary to become a successful team owner. I am happy to welcome Checo to the family E1 and I am eager to see how Team Mexico’s plans develop “, concluded the President of E1.
Bass: “Perez Mexican Icon”

A warm welcome also from Rodi Basso, CEO of E1: “With the E1 World Championship – Uim we aim to create a connection between teams and countries or cities: what better combination of Checo and his native country, Mexico? Checo is a talented driver. Having a name like him associated with E1 demonstrates the strength of what we are trying to build and how our message for promoting cleaner water really impacts people. We are currently in discussions with other potential team owners who would like to join the E1 Series. Our aim is to create as exciting and competitive a squad of teams and drivers as possible. Since we will have a Mexico-affiliated grid team, we will also explore the possibility of bringing an E1 event to Mexico in the near future. “
What is the E1 Series
–
The teams and pilots who will take part in the E1 – Uim World Championship will test their skills at the wheel of the futuristic RaceBird boat. The racing boat, powered by 100% electricity, uses hydrofoil technology, which lifts the boat from the surface of the water. In doing so, the surface of the hull in contact with the water is reduced and therefore the aerodynamic drag decreases, maximizing on the contrary energy efficiency. Thanks to the combined use of foil and electric propulsion systems, the E1 – Uim World Championship aims to become a test bed for sustainable marine solutions that can be used in the future on board electric boats. The competing teams will race on identical boats during at least the first two seasons of the championship, after which the regulation will allow teams to design and develop their own electric technologies. The first season of the E1 – Uim World Championship will begin in 2023, new teams and a first calendar will be unveiled in the coming months.
