The UEFA has already made official the refereeing appointments for the third game of the league phase of the Conference League. The Serbian Novak Simovic will be in charge of dispensing justice in the meeting between the Real Betis and Celje Slovenian. The referee will be accompanied by his compatriots Nikola Djorovic and Miloš Simović on the wings. In addition, he will have the help of Momčilo Marković and Aleksandar Živković, who will be in charge of supervising controversial actions from the VAR.
Simovic has a long history in the world of refereeing in the Jelen SuperLiga. The Serbian made his debut at the age of 29 in a match against Red Star Belgrade, who beat FK Novi Pazar 3-1. On the other hand, he still does not have much experience in refereeing European competitions. The referee has only officiated two Conference League matches and two Europa League matches.
Betis-Celje will be the first game that calls a Spanish teamalthough Simovic already knows what it is like to be at Benito Villamarín. It will be the third time visiting the Betis field since he served as the fourth official in the defeats against Manchester United 0-1 in the round of 16 of the Europa League in 2023 and against Rangers 2-3 in the group stage of the Europa League last season.
