The Senate Education Committee approved the bill that creates the Santa Dulce dos Pobres holiday, to be celebrated annually on March 13th. The proposal goes for analysis by the Chamber of Deputies and then goes to presidential approval.
Sister Dulce, as she is known, was canonized in 2019, becoming the first Brazilian saint recognized for her work by the poorest people. The 13th of March was chosen because it was the day of his death. The project belongs to senator Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA) and was approved on Thursday (18th).
