“Real, just peace” – Volodymyr Zelensky wants to present a plan how to win the war in Ukraine.
Kiev/Washington, DC – What could an end to the Ukraine war look like? The Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance believes that a “demilitarized zone” would be the way to achieve the goal. Whether the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky included this idea in his peace plan?
Zelensky’s peace plan: end of the Ukraine war?
Selenskyj announced in a video address that a plan for victory in the Ukraine War was 90 percent complete. “During the course of the day, consultations took place in various formats on our Ukrainian plan for victory. Real content for all points. The military, political, diplomatic, economic content,” he explained. The plan should be presented to the allies as early as next week.
The necessary steps in the ongoing war in Ukraine are clearly defined in order to ensure maximum strength on the way to a “real, just peace”. Zelensky stressed that the plan contains nothing impossible and can promote positive development not only for Ukraine, but also for all countries that respect international law.
JD Vance presents solution for Ukraine war: peaceful end or Russian victory?
What Zelensky’s plan looks like remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance presented his ideas by presenting a controversial peace plan to end the war in Ukraine. In an interview on “The Shawn Ryan Show,” Vance outlined how Trump would negotiate with Russia, Ukraine and European countries to find a peaceful solution.
According to Vance, Russia would keep the territory it occupied while establishing a demilitarized zone along the current front lines. This zone would be heavily fortified on the Ukrainian side to prevent another Russian invasion. In return, Russia would receive a “guarantee of neutrality,” meaning that Ukraine would not join NATO.
Critics see this plan not as a peaceful solution, but as a victory for Russia. Victoria Nuland, a former US State Department official, told the New York Timesthat Vance’s plan was contrary to the peace terms of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and is practically identical to the proposal Russia made in February. Luke Coffey, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, also called the proposal unrealistic and said Vance was ignoring the will of the Ukrainians and was simply offering a plan for a Russian victory.
End of the Ukraine war: UN hopes for territorial integrity of Ukraine
Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the U.N.Secretary-General, made it clear that the international body envisions the end of the war in Ukraine differently than Vance. “I simply reiterate our position, namely that we want this war to end in accordance with international law, in accordance with the UN Charter and in accordance with the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Stéphane Dujarric replied, according to New York Times to reporter inquiries. According to Ukrinformcorrespondents, his statement should not be a reaction to statements made by politicians. (lw)
