McLaren team principal Andreas days ago Seidl had announced updates on the MCL35M to counter the comeback of the Ferrari in the constructors’ standings. The areas in which the Woking team will intervene with precision are not yet known, but the intent is clear. Because if Ferrari is the one from Silverstone, that is, capable of going to the podium and touching the victory even on a track that in theory should have disadvantaged it, then Hungary could be a serious threat to McLaren, considering that Charles Leclerc has always obtained great qualifications and which are difficult to overcome at the Hungaroring.
Hungary, McLaren in defense against Ferrari
The German manager presented the appointment of the circuit near Budapest as follows: “The Hungaroring offers the team an interesting challenge compared to the relatively fast tracks of Austria and Silverstone. With high levels of downforce and a narrow, winding layout, it’s no surprise that many describe it as the Monte Carlo without the guard rails. The team, along with Lando and Daniel, have done a fantastic job so far to put us in third position in the constructors’ championship, but we know the fight is far from over, and that a bad weekend is enough to lose momentum. The challenges posed by the Hungaroring may not suit our car as much as other circuits of the calendar, but much of the fight for third place this year will be decided by how well we do on tracks that don’t suit our characteristics. We will work hard as a team, together with Mercedes, to make sure we maximize any opportunities that arise over the weekend. As always, the goal is to get a good number of points and keep pushing to grab the best possible position in the constructors’ championship.“.
