Seen as inept by truck driver leaders in articulating with the federal government, the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio de Freitas, added a little more pepper to his image in front of the leaders of the drivers’ movement. During a lecture on Friday (22), Tarcísio was forceful when he said that the chance of strike in the category is “zero”.
According to a column by journalist Chico Alves, at UOL, the minister told businessmen that the possibility of truck drivers repeating the 2018 strike, which stopped the entire country, is “none” and assured that there will be no strike.

Since the 16th of October, self-employed drivers have been threatening to strike for the 1st of November. The audio of the Minister’s demonstration seems to have intensified this intention even more. But, according to these entities, everything will depend on the government’s negotiating capacity, meeting the request for a reduction in the price of diesel and the establishment of a minimum floor for the front.
Criticizing the 2018 movement, fully supported by the then federal deputy, Jair Bolsonaro, the minister said that the leaders at that time were supported by agribusiness, acted solely with a lockout spirit and caused permanent damage to the country.
“The ones who stopped Brazil in 2018 were transport companies doing lockouts, with the support of agribusiness, people who really wanted to force a reduction in the price of diesel. This had a bad side effect”, fired the minister according to the column.
Yesterday, the deputy who presides over the Mixed Front of Autonomous and CLT truck drivers, Nereu Crispim (PSL-RS), said that Tarcisio is a “small talk” person when it comes to doing the midfield between the category and the federal government. The truck driver leaders ask that the minister no longer represent the category at the Planalto Palace.
Tarcisio’s speech was poorly received among truck drivers’ leaders.
In the column by UOL journalist, Carlos Alberto Litti Dahmer, director of the National Confederation of Transport and Logistics Workers, said that the minister works in favor of big business and that the State “is there to protect the weakest and not the most powerful ”.
About the strike, Litti commented that each autonomous carrier will decide on the matter.
