The symptoms of Covid-19 have changed with the arrival of the new variant, Ômicron. If before it was common for infected people to feel shortness of breath and loss of smell and taste, now the most common symptom is cough.
A study carried out in Norway identified the eight main symptoms of the Ômicron variant in people who were vaccinated with two doses of the immunizer. The most common symptom was cough – present in more than 80% of those infected. Nasal congestion and fatigue rank second and third, respectively, in the ranking.
Published in the scientific journal Eurosurveillance, the study on the main symptoms of Ômicron in vaccinated people was developed by researchers from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and Oslo University Hospital, both in Norway.

The researchers defined the main symptoms of Ômicron from the infections that occurred at a party on November 26th. One of the guests had returned from South Africa, where the new variant originated, two days before the event.
Of the 117 participants, 111 were identified and participated in the study. Most of the guests (96%) in the survey had two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. This means that 107 people were immunized, but no one had received a booster dose.
Tests identified 81 people (73%) infected with the coronavirus, of which 66 (59%) were by Ômicron and 15 (14%) were probable cases, as the second group performed only one PCR test and the samples did not undergo sequencing. .
It is important to note that most cases of Ômicron were symptomatic people. And only one patient was infected and showed no symptoms of the disease. Here are the main symptoms identified by the Omicron study:
1. Cough: present in 83% of cases;
2. Coryza and nasal congestion: present in 78% of cases;
3. Fatigue and lethargy: present in 74% of cases;
4. Sore throat: present in 72% of cases;
5. Headache: present in 68% of cases;
6. Muscle pain: present in 58% of cases;
7. Fever: present in 54% of cases;
8. Sneezing: present in 43% of cases.
