Sedrak Petrosyan (29 years old) has been the new owner of the Badalona Futur, Second Federation club that in recent seasons has suffered a turbulent journey through the lower categories of football. A nomadic team that, despite its name, now has its home in the municipality of Dalt Award (Barcelona), although in recent years it has competed locally in Vic, Badalona and Palamós. A group through which owners who have been increasing debts have also paraded and who at the beginning of 2025 have walked along the edge of disappearance due to complaints from their staff for non-payments. «I am aware that I have bought a club in the worst possible situation, not only economically, but also sportingly because we are penultimate in the standings. Since I opened the accounts I have not stopped getting surprises and I have discovered several more debts than had been published,” he says. A gloomy scenario that does not discourage this entrepreneur of Armenian origin, although born in Moscow, who already guides the helm of the entity and who explains his intentions to ABC.
“We bought not for the love of the club, not for the love of Badalona Futur,” acknowledges Petrosyan, who puts an expiration date on the team’s current name. “I am going to bury Badalona Futur personally at the end of the season,” he adds in his telephone conversation with this newspaper, in which he exhibits irony: “In these last months of competition we are going to give the opportunity to the followers who make so many memes on the networks and they laugh at Badalona Futur so that they continue doing it because at the end of the course it is over, we will start a new project. The headquarters is clear and has already signed an agreement with Josep Triadó, the mayorso that Premià de Dalt becomes the permanent home for the team starting next season.
At the age of seven, his parents sent him and his older sister to Spain to receive a European education. He settled in Catalonia, grew up on the Costa Brava and Badalona Futur is the first sporting adventure for Petrosyan, a multifaceted character with easy verb. His first dream was to be an actor, he worked on projects related to shows and events, he tried his hand at the barbershop sector, he collaborated to run a family hotel, he opened a logistics company in Russia, but his star project is ‘Barcelona District’, the construction, through the developer Petrosyan Group, of a 2,000 hectare neighborhood in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistaninspired by the architecture of Barcelona.
Football as a showcase
Petrosyan does not hide from ABC that having a team will serve as a showcase for that project, “because football is one of the best marketing tools that currently exist. We have the purpose of raising awareness of the Central Asian culture with ‘Barcelona District’ and we have thought that football can be a very interesting tool,” he openly acknowledges. After the acquisition of Badalona Futur, however, unpleasant surprises have emerged. «We wanted to invest in Catalan football, in First or Second RFEFand we had several options. Badalona Futur, I say it now as an owner, was not the best option and I am aware that I have bought a club in the worst situation it could be in. Players, coaching staff and employees had not been paid for three months. Some didn’t even have enough to eat, they were kicked out of the apartments rented by the club. «There were debts with Social Security, the Treasury, with the bus company, with suppliers… It is a shame that a professional club like this has reached the point where it does not even have shirts. “I told the players who had reported that they did the right thing, that I would have done the same.”
«We had several options to invest. Badalona Futur, I say it now as an owner, it was not the best, I am aware that I have bought a club in the worst situation it could be in.
Sedrak Petrosyan
Owner of Badalona Futur
Badalona Futur has apparently saved a match point with the arrival of Petrosyan, although in modest football many continue to be surprised and ask many questions because of the strangeness that the purchase of a club with those red numbers produces. When the situation was the worst possible and before becoming its new owner, the team was able to compete in Alzira because, as he explains to ABC, he personally paid for the bus and accommodation for the expedition. Last day’s duel against Elche subsidiary It was already played with him as owner. «We entered the club without being owners to be able to find out what was really happening. I met with each of the players individually, eight hours in total, to listen to their personal problems and situations. I have to thank them because they withdrew practically all the complaints, with the commitment that we would pay two salaries to all the players, staff and club personnel the day we went to the notary to sign. “I was sincere,” he says, although he acknowledges that there are still more payments pending.
«We had planned a margin of error in calculating actual debt of the club, but I have been a little optimistic because the situation was much worse. The information that had been provided to me was very different from reality. When it was announced that there was a new property, many began to come out saying that they were also owed something. With players and coaching staff, the immediate debt of 150,000 euros has already been settled,” insists Petrosyan.
Clinging to the odds
«We assume that this club has the numbers to go down to Tercera RFEF, I know, although statistics show that I have a 12% chance of staying in Segunda RFEF. As I am stubborn, as has been demonstrated with the ‘Barcelona District’ project, which many said was impossible, I want to show that, despite the circumstances and with the new signings, a club as peculiar as Badalona Futur can be saved. », he assures.

Sedrak Petrosyan
Despite the legacy that has been found from the mandates of Toni Freixa and Josep DelgadoPetrosyan exudes optimism. «There are problems and I have to prioritize to pay them because I am not the Bank of Spain. But we are already bringing in new players thanks to the work of the sports advisor, Jordi Gratacós, because the club’s future project convinces them,” says the owner of a club who trusts that everything will be different when he settles permanently in Premià de Dalt.
«The profitability of a club must be derived from the profitability of its brand. There are sponsorships that can attract players to make future sales and that, with Badalona Futur, is not going to be achieved. Badalona Futur I am going to bury him personally at the end of the season, if necessary we will go to a funeral, and we will start with a new project. And that project goes through Premià,” insists the new owner of a team heir to the historic Llagosteraa team that played in the Second Division in 2014 and that after its relegation began a drift that Petrosyan wants to put an end to. «I prefer to take risks. “If we lose, we know how much we are going to lose, but if we win, we are going to win a lot.”
