Security policy Prime Minister Marin to meet Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas today, Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen to travel to the United States

Discussions on the security situation between Finland and the partner countries will continue closely this week.

Finland the state leadership’s close contact with foreign counterparts will continue today, Monday, when the defense minister Antti Kaikkonen (Central) begins his three-day trip to the United States. The journey is a continuation of the president Sauli Niinistö and the President of the United States Joe Biden for an appointment last Friday.

Prime minister Sanna Marin (sd) will visit Estonia on Monday and meet with the Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. Among other things, the prime ministers will discuss the security situation in Europe and co-operation on current EU affairs.

Estonia, a NATO country, also maintains close relations with the United States as the Russian invasion continues. Kallas says on his Twitter account that on Tuesday he will meet with the US Secretary of State in Tallinn Anthony Blinkenin.

Kaikkonen meets with the Secretary of Defense and other government officials in the United States.

Kaikkonen will also visit the Lockheed Martin plant in Dallas, which supplies F-35 fighter jets to Finland. In addition to the factory visit, the Secretary of Defense will visit an air base in Florida, where he will be introduced to, among other things, training and maintenance.

The minister’s visit has already been agreed in early February, the Ministry of Defense says.
