Britannian the commander of the armed forces warns that the risk of an accidental outbreak of war between Russia and the West is now greater than ever during the Cold War.
General Nick Carter urges policymakers to be careful and avoid provocations in an interview with Times Radio on Sunday, says CNN.
“I think the world is much more competitive than it was 10 or 15 years ago. Such competition between states and great powers is of such a nature that it leads to growing tensions. This tension is something to be vigilant about, ”Carter said.
Carter compared the current situation to the bipolar world during the Cold War and the unipolar world dominated by the United States after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
“We are now in an era that is more polar. In a multipolar world, competing for different goals with different agendas, there is a greater risk of tensions ”with consequences.
