The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) reported on Wednesday night (10) that the missing helicopter in the state of São Paulo between the cities of São Paulo and Ilhabela has not yet been found. The aircraft, registered PR-HDB and carrying four people, disappeared on December 31. The searches began the following day.
According to the Civil Police, telephone antennas have already recorded the approximate location of the signal from two cell phones belonging to the passengers. The corporation did not say, however, whether searches had already been carried out in the region where the devices emitted the signals or when the signals were recorded.

“The signal from a new device, from one of the missing, was located in the same region where the first one was located, on the 1st. The Civil Police clarifies that telephone audio, telematic data, or text messages from the occupants of the missing helicopter were not intercepted. In relation to the other two devices belonging to the other passengers, no signs of activity were found, which indicates that they are switched off”, said the Civil Police in a note sent by the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
The searches carried out by the FAB are carried out by the aircraft SC-105 Amazonas, from the Second Squadron of the Tenth Aviation Group of the FAB, and H-60 Black Hawk, from the Fifth Squadron of the Eighth Aviation Group.
“The searches, despite being hampered by the weather conditions and the mountainous terrain in the region, have been taking place since Monday (1st). The total search area is five thousand square kilometers. The helicopter has not yet been located,” the FAB said in a statement.
The SC-105 Amazonas carries 15 crew members specialized in land and sea location and has a radar capable of carrying out searches over land or sea, with a range of up to 360 kilometers. The aircraft has an electro-optical image and infrared spectrum search system. This allows heat searches to be carried out, allowing the detection, for example, of an aircraft covered by vegetation or a person at sea.
On the last day of the year, the missing helicopter left the capital of São Paulo for Ilhabela, on the north coast of the state, but was unable to reach its destination. In addition to the pilot, Luciana Rodzewics, 45 years old, her daughter, Letícia Ayumi Rodzewics Sakumoto, 20 years old, and Rafael Torres, a family friend who invited the tour, were on the aircraft. The last contact with the control tower was at 3:10 pm on Sunday, when flying over Caraguatatuba.
