The reconnaissance units and special forces of the Airborne Forces adopted the new AK-12 assault rifles. This is reported by “News“.
The Defense Ministry equipped intelligence officers and special forces with the latest examples of Russian small arms earlier this fall. In the near future, they will also receive night sights, thermal imagers and silencers. The department stressed that these deliveries have already been agreed and planned.
As military expert Vladislav Shurygin explained, the AK-12 is a deeply modernized, balanced assault rifle that will allow it to hit the enemy with higher accuracy. He stressed that the Superkalashnikovs will expand the shooting capabilities of the units, which, in turn, will give a number of advantages in battle.
The AK-12 is unified with the previous assault rifles of the AK line, however, it contains new structural elements. In particular, additional removable muzzle devices were developed for the Superkalashnikov and the convenience of switching between firing modes was improved. Among other things, the machine received Picatinny rails. With their help, you can quickly and without technical alterations change the sights, install the front grip or bipod for more accurate shooting from stationary positions.
Earlier, the chief designer of JSC Concern Kalashnikov, Sergei Urzhumtsev, explained the criticism of the AK-12 with new structural elements. He stressed that this model was created in accordance with the tactical and technical assignment, which determined the design of the machine.
