Junior researcher at the IBCP RAS Alexander Kudryavtsev explained the frequent death of patients with coronavirus at night. Reported by “MK”.
Experimentally, the scientist found that every night his blood oxygen saturation level dropped sharply to 88 percent during the deep sleep phase. At the same time, blood pressure and pulse decreased. Based on the data obtained, he suggested that oxygen levels drop significantly more in patients with coronavirus.
The specialist stressed that oxygenation at 88 percent is a dangerous level, and suggested that in patients with coronavirus, this figure could reach 70 percent. According to him, hypoxia can have neurotoxic effects on the brain. “Such damage may not even be visible, it may be diffuse, but this is one of the serious consequences,” the scientist concluded.
According to the results of the experiments, Kudryavtsev came to the conclusion that the drop in blood oxygen saturation may be associated with the high mortality rate of patients with coronavirus at night. He added that the drop in oxygen in the blood is very stressful for patients with respiratory failure.
